• National Express Holdings has taken over Thandi Coaches, the Birminghambased network which caters for ethnic communities throughout Britain.
The family-run company, which has been operating for several years, will now be called Thandi Express.
The new owner has not yet announced any expension schemes, but National Express does say that there will be some operational changes in April. It plans to extend the existing service network to Newcastle, Preston, Gillingham, Reading, Bedford, Oxford, Southampton, Blackburn and Glasgow.
National Express takes over the firm on 30 January and will run services from Wolverhampton to Southall or East Ham, and Southall to Huddersfield.
Last week National Express also completed a £6 million takeover of Crosville Wales. There are no plans to alter Crosville Wales' operations or policies, but National Express has announced several senior management changes.
Tim Mocroft becomes group finance director with David Rendall as group development director. Jim Cressey is group commercial director and will be in charge of the company's smaller members, including Thandi Express.
0 National Express this week announced its intention to cut the cost of off-peak travel in its express coach network. The service, which is called "Boomerangs", allows passengers to travel on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays on return journeys for the price of a single ticket.
