• Heronfreight has won its third contract distribution deal with Gateway Foodmarkets to service the food chain's flagship distribution centre at Huntingdon, Cambridge.

This spring Heronfreight will begin to operate 50 tractive units, one rigid, 75 dry-freight trailers and 42 reefers out of Huntingdon to service stores in the eastern region. It also plans to buy Daf 2500 tractor units to service the contract.

The initial fleet of 15 Leyland Roadtrains used by Heronfreight for its national "slow moving grocery" distribution contract with Asda, has been augmented by 15 hired units as the partnership, set up in September last year, goes from strength to strength.
