WE ARE ORGANISING a visit to the Amsterdam Motor Show on opening day, February 7, and the booking list is now open. The party will leave London at 6pm on February 6 and return on Sunday, February 10, arriving in London at about 12 noon.
Full travel arrangements, with sleeping berths. have been made for 50 guests. The party will be accommodated at the Appollo, one of Amsterdam's leading hotels.
The trip includes a one-day visit to the DAF Truck plant at Eindhoven and leaves enough time to visit places of interest in Amsterdam; cruise on the canals; look round the old town; and eat in some of Europe's finest restaurants.
The purpose of the visit is to meet the vehicle manufacturers and see what they have to offer for the Eighties, and the Amsterdam Show is the place to do it. The Amsterdam Show is spacious. It affords plenty of room to move between and through the stands. Viewing the exhibits is made easy and there is usually time to talk to the exhibitors.
UK manufacturers are normally well represented on opening day at this exhibition. This is a chance to discuss problems at first hand in a fairly relaxed atmosphere.
The bodywork section at the Amsterdam Show produces new ideas to British eyes. As our party visiting the Frankfurt Show discovered, the Continental innovations can be as easily adopted in Britain. The same can be said of the garage equipment and tool section where we have come to expect new labour saving devices. CM`s assistant technical editor, Bill Brock, will accompany the party.
Amsterdam is within easy reach of Utrecht, Arnhem, Haarlem, The Hague and Delft.
The travel and accommodation arrangements are attractive. We have been able to negotiate preference rates; the cost is £.130 + VAT per person.
