EPCO LTD, which has been manufacturing hydraulic jacks since the 1920s, has closed.
A strike began at the factory in Leeds on December 13 last year, when 160 members of the engineering union walked out after turning down a pay offer. The company also suffered during the ten week national engineering dispute in the autumn and incurred big losses in 1979.
David Oxley, managing director of Epco, had warned strikers that action preventing the company from operating would lead to closure.
