OWNER-drivers are waiting for the British Association Owner-Drivers to stage a phoenix-like recovery this ye following the first executive meeting since its disastr( Coventry conference in November.
BAOD is to move into the Bristol, Glasgow and Newcastle areas with an aggressive new campaign aimed at offering the owner-driver a range of services, so that tangible benefits can be seen before a driver joins the Association.
The move is the first since the resignations of the chairman, vice-chairman and secretary of the Association at the November conference and the election of new officers a fortnight later.
BAOD spokesman Dave Leachman told CM that the Association was looking to push into areas where trade was good and to attract new members.
Among plans being investigated is a new nationwide fuel bunkering and credit system, arranged through the Association with a small levy to fund it and an individual direct debit payment system.
Traffic managers from all the existing freight offices of associations are to meet to ganise a new traffic terchange between offices allow loads to be arranged both directions.
Mr Leachman added t the executive meeting, hek Long Eaton, Notts on Sund had given the BAOD a lot direction and had move( away from old ideas which I offered little to the prospect member.
