Any Lorry Driver of the Year 'who was able to halt a 142ft, 115-tonne-gross road train within 2cm of a given point behind him would unquestionably be hailed as one of the greatest. Yet this feat is regularly being accomplished in triplicate in Australia by the driver of a White tractor hauling three pressuredischarge tankers each containing 27 tonnes of black nickel concentrate.
The material is loaded by gravity through telescopic nozzles and the outfit has to be placed within 2cm of them for each of the three loading operations. What about something like this as a test for class champions in the final of the next Lorry Driver of the Year Competition?
