LONDON could face a critical shortage of hotel rooms by the mid-1980s warned hotel consultants Horwath and Horwath at a recent London conference.
To meet demand, 10,000 new hotel rooms or 20 hotels similar in size to the London Hilton must be built to stop the problem becoming critical.
The lack of accommodation in London is likely to cause many visitors and groups of visitors to stay at hotels outside the London area and will increase the number of people who will need to use coaches and other forms of transport to visit the central area for shopping, sightseeing and entertainment.
