THE MILK Marketing Board helped get itself out of the post-blizzard situation by hiring road tankers from Arthur Guinness.
Several milk tankers were stranded at the wrong ends of their delivery runs during the wintry conditions recently and the MMB was forced to look elsewhere for emergency transport.
Three loads (each of up to 34,560 pints) were moved last weekend from Bristol and Didcot to the MMB creamery at Felinfach in Dyfed, South Wales.
Guinness is one of relatively few concerns which own vehicles capable of meeting MMB's stringent hygiene standards.
