• After taking over another firm moving into the ship-dismantling trat Hull scrap metal company neglectec condition of its four goods vehicles.
This was stated at a public inquii Leeds last week when the company, A Draper and Son Ltd, was called befor Yorkshire LA, Maj-Gen Sir John Potu show cause under Section 69 of Transport Act 1968.
Mr D. Sayer, a vehicle examiner, tol LA that on November 8 last year he vi Draper's premises and inspected vehicles, one of which attracted immediate GV9. Several of the de discovered appeared to have been of standing. There was a workshop but could not accommodate any vehicles for this reason he felt that most inspec had been carried out in the open air.
Cross-examined by Mr D. A. Sca for the company, the examiner said th thought the premises of SEG Ltd, v major repairs were carried out, satisfactory.
Mr Albert Draper, managing dire told the LA that arrangements had now made with SEG Ltd to carry out mo maintenance inspections and repairs. added . that since the licence had granted in 1970 only two prohibitions been recorded against the comp: vehicles.
After hearing the evidence, Sir commented that although the case nowhere near as bad as many of tho! had dealt with, he still felt he woul lacking in his duties if he did not take : action, and he decided to curtail the lk by suspending for one month one o four vehicles in possession.
