AN order for some 40 Crushload continuous-loading refuse collection vehicles has been placed With the Eagle Engineering Co. Ltd. by• the London BOrough of Wandsworth. This is. claimed to be one of the largest tenders ever awarded for municipal vehicles.

Special features will be incorporated in the bodies of the Wandsworth vehicles, in addition to the standard equipment of the Crushload which includes an electro/ hydraulic system, twin loading barriers in the rear hopper which partially compacts the refuse before it is automatically loaded, and continuously running hydraulic pump driven from the crankshaft.
