Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

T HE first installation of a new spray1 booth for commercial vehicles produced by the Pegasus Spraybooth Co., 4 Frances Street, Woolwich, London, S.E.18, has been carried out at the works of Leigh and Botfield, Ltd., Hackney.

The booth, which is 32 ft. long, 15 ft. wide and 12 ft. high, is constructed from galvanized steel panels. All joints, including those around the doors, are fitted with gaskets to make it completely airtight and ensure that air can enter the booth only through the banks of filters provided.

Air extraction is effected by a 2-ft. 6-in. diameter flameproof fan mounted above the booth lb a duct leading to the outside of the building in which it is housed. The booth provides very clean working conditions and the continuous air current through it is said to reduce the drying time for some finishes to a third that of normal air drying!!

The two main doors are self-closing and fireproof for half an hour. An emergency door is also provided. When necessary. the complete structure can be dismantled for re-erection on another site.

Light Saw

MOOD up to 5 in. thick can be cut VV with the Little Giant chain saw manufactured by the Tarpen Engineering Co., Ltd., Ixworth House, lxworth Place, London. S.W.3. It is driven by an electric motor which consumes 400 w. under load, and will operate from 105115 v., 200-220 v. and 230-250 v. supplies. The saw, which is 1 ft. 31 in. long, weighs only 81 lb. With 25 ft. of cable it costs £22.

Tool Trolley

MHEN loaded, mechanics' tool boxes VV are not easily carried. N. C. Brown, Ltd., Eagle Steel Works, Heywood, Lanes, offer a tool box of conventional layout, that is with two upper sections attached to a base tray by a parallelogram linkage, mounted on two rubbertyred wheels and a castor.

Attached to the base frame is a tubular steel structure which acts as a pushing bar and as a support for a shelf which can be used also as a seat. The shelf folds upwards when not required. The complete trolley costs £8 15s.

Fuel Additive L'OR over a year Metal Protection

Products, Ltd., 77a George Street, Croydon, Surrey, have been importing a range of lubricating oil additives known as Wynn's Friction-proofing Products, which were developed and are widely used in the U.S.A.

The compounds do not change the characteristic's of the oil in any way, the lubricant being used merely as a carrier for the additive which acts on the metal of the bearing surfaces, smoothing it to reduce sheer stresses and sealing it against chemical attack. A constitutent of the additive also clears gum deposits, preventing, among other things, piston rings sticking, and this tends to reduce oil consumption. These properties are retained by the latest Wynn's product to be introduced, the Diesel Fuel Conditioner. This compound is stated to extend injectionpump element and injector life and keeps these components and the piping clean. Also, it prevents the formation of sludge in bulk storage tanks and keeps any water present in suspension. A rust inhibitor protects the 'metal of the tank.

Toggle Switches ANUMBER of recently introduced commercial vehicles have been fitted with lever-operated switches instead of the usual push-pull types to control electrical accessories. Switches of the new -type are now generally available from Joseph Lucas, Ltd., Great King Street, Birmingham, 19.

Several models are offered but all employ the same toggle action and bladetype wiring connectors to simplify installation. A typical unit is the two-position 65SA which costs 4s.

Flexible Blades HACKSAW blades which are said to be Tess prone to breakage than conventional types are manufactured by the Darwins Tool Division of J. Stead and Co., Ltd., Manor Works, Cricket Inn Road, Sheffield, 2. Only the teeth of the 10-in. or 12-in, blades are hardened.

This [bakes them very flexible and they can, in fact, be bent to form a circle. n27
