HIGHWAY ROBBERY INCREASE LAST year 9,171 motor vehicles were stolen in London alone—an increase of more than 34 per cent. on 1958 and of 134 per cent. on 1957. There was a comparable increase in the number of thefts from vehicles parked in London streets—a total of 20,678.

Announcing these figures, New Scotland Yard urge drivers to lock their vehicles securely, even if they leave them for only a few minutes. and to remove any articles of value from view.
