BULK TRANSPORT equipment manufacturer Fort Vale has welcomed HRH the Duke of Kent to its new East Lancashire site. The E1.5m R&D centre in Simonstone, near Burnley, which employs more than 350 people, makes precision valves and equipment used for bulk transportation of liquids, gases, and hazardous cargoes. Approximately 95% of its products are exported.
MD Ian Wilson said: "The opening of the R&D centre underlines our commitment to investment in training and innovation. We pride ourselves on developing first-class engineers." About 23% of its workforce has come straight from school, college or university. • Fort Vale will be exhibiting at Tank-ex 14.
