Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A vehicle examiner who found a loose steering coupling on our vehicle decided to place a prohibition on it.

Our mechanic quickly tightened up the bolts and we asked the examiner to remove the prohibition. He said it could only be removed if the vehicle was taken to the testing station and given a full inspection.

Was he right?

A When a prohibition is imposed on a goods vehicle, a public service vehicle or a passenger vehicle constructed to carry more than eight passengers, it can be made irremovable, which means it will not be lifted until the vehicle has been examined at an official

testing station. This is provided for under Section 69(5) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Section 9 and 9A of the Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981.

You should check the prohibition notice to see if it was made irremovable by the examiner.
