Nearly one foreign goods vehicle in six checked in this country prohibited. Mr David Howell„ the Transport Secretary, told the Commons th 8,486 vehicles had been checked, in the first nine months of the yee of which 1,334 were prohibited for overloading, 105 for other C ar U transgressions, and 65 for other reasons.
Prohibition was an expensive and effective penalty, said the Mini ter, and he was constantly seeking to increase the effectiveness the enforcement effort.
