P. L. Berridge has been appointed refrigerated vehicle marketing manager by Bonallack and Sons , Ltd., Norwich division. Mr. Berridge. who will be responsible for all refrigerated vehicle and body sales for both the home and export market, was previously sales engineer with Crane Fruehauf Trailers, North Walsham.
John W. Smith, who joined the Powell Duffryn Group in 1957, has been appointed to the board of Powell Duffryn Engineering Ltd.; he is the director responsible for the manufacture of bulk materials handling equipment.
Ron Patterson, 39, has been appointed general manager by Butlers Distribution to their 300,000 sg.ft. warehouse at Avonmouth. near Bristol. Previously he was distribution manager of Cavenham *Foods for three years. Mr. Patterson was a professional footballer for 13 years playing first for Middlesbrough then becoming captain of Northampton Town Ten years ago Mr. Patterson switched into business when he joined Watney Mann. becoming trainee to assistant distribution manager in the Midlands, a post he held for 2-1years before moving to Cavenham Foods. H. S. N. (Nick) Wells has been appointed market development engineer of Dennis Brothers Ltd. For the past two years, Mr. Wells has been municipal production manager at Dennis
Michael Stringer, a director of Wadham Stringer Ltd., has been appointed deputy managing director of the company as from December 1.1969.
L. Waller, general manager of Trent Motor Traction Co. Ltd.. has been appointed additionally a director as from January 1.1970.
D. N. Flower has been appointed traffic manager of the Aldershot and District Traction Co. Ltd. as from January 1. 1970, in succession to A. I. OBITUARY
We regret to record the death of Maj. Richard Albert Belcham Smith, MC. Mai. Smith (84) was a former president of the Commercial Motor Users Association. After World War II he became a vice-president of the National Road Transport Federation and he was on the management committee of the British Road Federation as well as an Institute of Transport council member. As a consultant he advised both the Road Haulage Association and the AA. A pioneer of reinforced concrete road construction, he had been a member of the council of the British Portland Cement Association and a director of the Cement and Concrete Association.
