"A SPLENDID idea" was how Mr. ri J. Lawrence, chief constable of Reading. described the "Kerb Space is Precious "'campaign of the Traders' Road Transport Association when he attended a meeting of the Reading Area last week. Aid. A. E. Smith, chairman of Reading Highways Committee, spoke about steps taken to deal with persons who left their cars parked for long periods.

He said that there was no point in shopkeepers complaining that parking bans would force potential customers to go to other towns, as in those other places the traffic problem was just as bad.

Mr. R. E. G. Brown, secretary of the London Division of the Association, surveyed the progress of the campaign.
