3,.NGE of locale often involves

alterations in the method of dealmg with departments of a company's business, and an example of the reorganization which is often found advisable following centralization is forthcoming from the General Electric Co., Ltd., who, when they moved into new premises at Magnet House, Kingsway, London, W.C., set about reorganizing their delivery service. After this change took place, the whole of the company's London stores, which were formerly situated at Greenbithe and in-otherdistricts, were brought under one roof, together with the offices.

Spacious van docks and loading, and unloading yardage are provided at the new premises, and in order to take the fullest possible advantage of the facilities which were provided by the modern structure in Kingsway, f .ondon, it was deemed advisable to set the delivery service on a new footinte

The company now possess a fleet of ten motor vehicles, two of which have a 24on capacity, four a 3O-wt..capacity, and four a ,1-ton capacity. The stud of horses at one time awned by the company has not been eliminated altogether, and four horsed vehicles are still retained for the purpose of effecting certain distributing work which is not undertaken by the motor vehicles.

The house colours of the company, viz., black, white and amber, conspicuously adorn the vehicles, which are as a consequence, familiar to most Londoners. In addition to the delivery fleet, the company also possess three heavy horse trollies, which are employed on carting goods for export to the various London docks for shipment overseas. '

The area which is served by the General Electric Co.'s local delivery fleet is the whole of the postal area of London; excluding the districts N.W.7. N.12. N.14, N.20 and N.21, E.4 and E.18, S.B.29 and S.E.21, and W.7. Certain districts which are beyond the radius of the London postal area, such as Harrow, Brentford, Kingston, Croydon, Ilford, Bromley, Beckenhaua, etc., also come within the delivery radius of the motor vehicles.

Some areas within comparatively close proximity to the company's.headquarters receive two deliveries daily, these including the City and West .End and portions of the South. Westerndistrict, and buyers in any of these districts who order in the morning material and equipment which is. always held in stock can rest assured that the goods will come to hand during the course-of the day. The bulk of the remaining districts which figure on the delivery area receive a visit every day, with the exception of some of the ioutlying areas, which are visited three times a week.
