Brings Major Benefits

Midland Expressway Ltd managing director Tom Fanning says the M6 Toll is creating benefits for both the West Midlands and the national economy.

"The M6 Toll is used by in excess of 50,000 vehicles on average every day, with the busiest days approaching 70,000, and that has made life significantly easier for drivers on the M6 and the surrounding roads." Mr Fanning is confident that the trial charges will attract many more customers to the free-flowing route. "Already such major haulage operators as Parcel Force, TNT, and Irlams appreciate the benefits of the M6 Toll, but hauliers have not yet been using the route in significant numbers," he said. "However, we accept the views of other bodies and operators in the haulage industry that these changes needed to be made and now expect to attract significant numbers of hauliers."
