Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A Midlands transport firm might close, making some of its 200 employees redundant, if it cannot obtain planning permission to expand, it says.

Tipton Transport, a subsidiary of AH Adams, wants permission to use land next to its site in Great Bridge, near West Bromwich, for parking empty trailers and unused trucks awaiting disposal.

Sandwell planning committee is to consider whether to grant permission. But nearby families have objected to the parking plan fearing they will be troubled by extra traffic and noise.

House of Commons speaker Betty Boothroyd, who represents West Bromwich West, is leading the residents' fight.

In a letter to the committee the firm says that if it cannot make use of the land for parking, then it must consider moving out of the area to a location where it will not be so restricted with its land use.

Such a move would result In the existing premises becoming derelict and an eyesore.

"Alternatively, the company might consider closing the business, with the result that a considerable number of Sandwell residents employed by the firm would be made redundant," says the firm in the letter.
