Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• LANCASHIRE haulier lost is operating base and 14 ehicles in a £250,000 fire rhich struck in the early ours of Thursday morning Lst week.

Haslingden depot manager L and B Transport, Terry ord told CM that the cornany lost a warehouse confining customers' goods .ored ready for loading and s whole fleet, including a new olvo and a new ERF, was also destroyed.

The company has managed to continue to operate using old vehicles lent by an associate company, B. S. Ridgway of Dundee.

And there are hopes that two new ERFs and two new Leylands on order will be delivered in time for use on outstanding contracts.

"We lost everything in the fire, but at least the stock in the warehouse was down because of the holiday season otherwise it would have been full of customers' loads," said Mr Ford.

Mr Ford attempted to get into the blazing buildings to rescue the company vehicles but was beaten back by heat which melted engrnes and buckled girders.

As yet the cause of the fire has not been found — but fire-raising has not been ruled out.
