PETROL price wars are forcing garage operators to close down their forecourts, earlier, to save wages as their profit margins are slashed. And this means that drivers are becoming more and more likely to find themselves stranded without derv.
Motor Agents Association petroleum affairs manager Graham Atkinson told CM: "Dery is a bit of a problem. It is not seen on the forecourts as often as it used to be.
"It is becoming difficult to get hold of because the oil companies don't want 'dirty old derv' on their nice clean forecourts, so more and more operators are forced to stop having it."
And Mr Atkinson confirmed that garage operators were being forced to stop opening their forecourts for as long as they would like by drastically reduced profit margins caused by price wars.
