CONJECTURE about the future of Daimler buses follow'. the announcement of the proposed BMC/Jaguar merg■ particularly with regard to the strengthening of Daimler's positil in the export field, reminds me that the company is no newcorr to this field. And our recent story of the current Canadian expr venture prompted me to get hold of evidence that Daimler bu, were known in America before the first world war.

The evidence is published here—a photograph of a Daim double-decker which entered service with the 5th Avenue B Co., of New York, about 1912-14. There is something particula British-looking about this bus—apart from the legend "Fare t cents".
