Versatile Vacuum Cleaner

ALREADY in use on a number of car production lines, the Air-O-Flow industrial vacuum cleaner can be used to extract broken glass, metal cuttings. smut inflammable and other liquids, and nuts and bolts from inaccessible places. in addition to its obvious use in handling dust and dirt.

The cleaner is non-electric, and works on the venturi principle, from normal air lines providing pressure of 80 p.s.i. or more. The upright unit, which is mounted on castors, is supplied with three interchangeable nozzles, and costs 03. It has been used by the motor industry to clear metal and glass fragments from the interior of completed car doors, to empty fuel tanks on vehicles prior to shipment, and to remove waste from machine tools and machined components. The cleaner is manufactured by the Exhall Grinding and Engineering Co., Ltd., Bayton Road, Exhall, Coventry.

Travelling Lift A LOADING gear for platform PA vehicles available from Wayne Exports. Inc., Richmond. Indiana, U.S.A.. not only raises palleted loads at the end of the body but conveys them along the platform. It is known as the Elberfield Jiffy Lift and consists of a gantry mounted on four wheels which run along tracks fitted at each side of the platform. A 9 h.p. petrol engine is mounted on top of the gantry and this powers the lifting

mechanism and the four wheels.

The running tracks have hinged extensions with tubular supports. For loading and unloading, these are swung out behind the body to allow the gantry to overhang the platform to raise or lower pallets from or to ground level. When not in use the gantry is run forward against the headboard.

Four models are available for single lifts up to 4} tons of loads Lip to 7 ft. wide and 4-6 ft. high. The gear is easily fitted to standard vehicles.

Kerbing Protection FOR delivery vans, the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (Great Britain), Ltd., Bushbury, Wolverhampton, offer 25 x 6 and 27 x 6 (8-ply) tyrcs with additional bands of rubber moulded to the normal sidewalls to minimize damage from kerbing. The covers incorporate a sidewall depth indicator, which shows clearly the degree of wear which has taken place. Other sizes of cover will probably be offered with this protection.
