DERMISSION granted by the West

Midland Traffic Commissioners to Walsall Transport Department to run a bus service along Park Hill Road, Wednesbury, is to be reviewed. Mr. W. P. James, chairman, said last week that the decision had been criticized.

At the time of the decision the Commissioners had been told that the road was to be lowered to allow doubledeckers to pass under a bridge. Wednesbury Corporation had experienced delay in doing this, and in the meantimethe department had been running a singledecker.

This gave rise to protests by residents of the road against its being used by a bus at all. Mr. James said that no objection by the police or others had been received at the hearing, and the Commissioners were right to grant the application.

Supt. I. V. Coghill, of Weclneshory, said that the licence was granted before he took over. He assumed that the proposal to run a bus along the road had been overlooked. The road was narrow with no footpaths, and when even a single-decker passed under the bridge it created one-Way traffic.
