Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE application of the fuel cell to road vehicles has been brought closer by a new type of cell developed by the Thornton research centre of Shell-Mcx and B.P., Ltd. It is stated to develop at least five times as much power for its size as any other cell.

Hydrogen is used as a fuel, and this is burnt with oxygen to produce current across the electrodes, the design of which is undisclosed. Air can be used instead of oxygen, and experiments arc proceeding with ethane, ethylene and alcohol in place of hydrogen.

A major difference between the Shell unit and most other types is that the cell operates at relatively low temperatures.
