Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

VOLKSWAGEN commercial vehicles have recently been modified. The most important improvement is the provision of a rear door. Other features relate to increased body space and improved suspension.

By lowering the floor above the engine compartment by 10 in. it has been possible to provide a reasonablesized door in the rear panel. This door opens upwards and can he held by an extensible support. The space above the engine compartment is increased by 7 cu. ft.

Modifications to the floor of the main part of the body provide more foot room for the rear-seat passengers in the Kombi or Microbus version.

Ventilation has been improved by the inclusion of a duct running the length of the vehicle, through which can be passed cool or warm air. A deeper windscreen increases upward vision and incorporates in its toughened-glass area a2 a panel of laminated glass which will not shatter in the event of accidents. The doOr sliding windows are now easier to operate and a sun visor is provided.

Nine leaves, instead of four. are used for the laminated front torsion bars. This arrangement results in greater flexibility. The telescopic dampers have been inclined to increase stability and their stroke has been lengthened. Telescopic dampers are used also at the rear.

Braking has received attention. Stiffer drums are now fitted to the rear wheels and the total frictional area has been increased by 21 sq. in. The finned area of all the drums has been increased to promote cooling. The tyre equipment has been changed from 5.50-16 in. to 6.40-15 in., with a corresponding change in wheel size. These larger-section tyres should also improve the ride
