U.T.A. TO BUILD 60 BUSES
'ENDER a new replacement pro14-1 gramme, the Ulster Transport Authority are to build 60 lightweight single-deck buses with bodies of light alloy instead of composite construction. A number of single-deckers is to be converted to double-deckers. These will have central gangways in the upper saloons—an innovation for the undertaking.
The lightweight buses will seat 42-44 passengers. Most of the single-deckers in service carry 34 seated passengers. The new vehicles will be built in Belfast. The chassis will have underfloor engines.
RIBBLE PLAN TAKE-OVER
THE stage-carriage services in the Clitheroc and Bolton-by-Bowland areas operated by Bolton-by-Bowland Motor Services, Ltd., are to be taken over by Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., subject to the approval of the Nbrth Western and Yorkshire Licensing Authorities.
Ribble and Accrington Corporation are to commute pool revenue at £1,900 a year in respect of their joint service from Clitheroe to Manchester via Harwood, as a result of a revised farecollection system. The position will be reviewed in two years' time, or earlier if fares or traffic rise.

A MILLION-DOLLAR fund to PA provide' annual awards to persons considered to have made the greatest contributions to the peaceful uses of atomic energy is to he established by the Ford Motor Co. Mr. Henry Ford the second, and his brothers Benson and William, have created the fund in memory of their father and grandfather, the late Henry and Edsel B. Ford.
An international jury will select winners of the award, equivalent to £26,700: The fund was eStabliShed in response to a suggestion made by President Eisenhower at Geneva.
