‘rejected an application by employees of the passenger transport department to join the superannuation scheme for Rotherham municipal servants. The rejection was recommended by the passenger transport committee, the chairman of which (Aid. G. E. Caine) said that to grant the application in the form requested was outside the corporation's powers.
He thought that the prospect of nationalization had led the employees to seek all the good things they possibly could, under the impression that the national organization would take over the liability. It was, however, fairly certain that the State body would not accept liabilities incurred after the passing of the Transport Act,
