MA rolls out phase one of new courses

• The Road Haulage Association has launched phase one of its national training scheme promising "quality training at a competitive price". Earlier this week Transport Minister Lord Whitty helped the RHA unveil its prospectus of the courses it will be offering over the coming months.
Although the RHA already offers training courses, predominately in the Southern and Eastern areas, it is expanding its network and has signed deals with training providers at 40 locations across the country. Courses will be classroom and cab-based, covering everything from HGV and fork-lift driver training to risk assessment. As well a.s driver training, topics will include manual handling, transport law, aviation security, drivers' hours and tachograph use.
"There will a training course for every professional person in the road haulage industry, from new drivers to the experienced drivers or managers who are looking to acquire new skills," saysTIHA chief executive Roger King.
"We will be doing most of the classroom work, while third-party contractors will handle the cab-based training to our standards," says King. "This is just the first phase: the next phases will be revealed over the coming months."
