Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

This week I had a call from a DTp vehicle inspector wanting to do an inspection due to my licence renewal. The vehicle he wanted to see was cut up about nine years ago. I suggested that if our records were so outdated he would be down on us like a ton of bricks. He agreed.

How can the DTp expect to penalise operators when its own house is so out of order? A friend has had the same request made for inspection due to renewal of licence. His licence is half way through its life, and one of the vehicles as outdated as mine.

Surely the DTp, with the perfection they expect of operators, should put their own house in order. Their attitude seems to he, "do as I say not as I do'.
