Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Major changes to the way in which training is undertaken in the road haulage industry will be announced next month by the Road Transport Industry Training Board.

The changes follow the guidelines of the Manpower Services Commission's New Training Initiative, which aims to bring training into line with modern industry's needs.

No longer will the road haulage industry be presented with formal training arrangements.

Skill standards

Instead, employers will be advised of the various skill standards that their employees must achieve to pass RTITB training courses.

The employers are then free to choose how to train their workers to achieve those standards.

Employers' help

The RTITB is training field staff to help employers understand the new training initiative and to advise employers about how to train their workforce.

All the details of the new arrangements have been given the blessing of the RTITB's road haulage council and the main board of the RTITB, and are currently being collated and printed for distribution in loose-leaf for at the end of May.

Similar new arrangement for other sectors of the roa transport industry, includini heavy vehicle maintenance and furniture removals, are expected to be published in the next few months.
