Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A formula giving an extra bonus of 12s a week to 110,000 company busmen on urban routes was agreed between six unions and the employers on Monday. It is part of a claim for a 24s 2d-a-week increase under discussion at a sub-committee of the National Council for the Omnibus Industry.

Following talks with the Ministry of Labour on recent PIB recommendations, the employers offered 10s a week where there was a further agreement on more one-man buses and another 2s 2d to give the company men parity with municipal rates. The subcommittee recommendation is now to be put to a full meeting of the NC01; unions are also to claim £1-a-week rises if similar increases are approved for the municipal busmen.
