THE first production models of the

A.E.C. Renown low-floor doubledecker are now nearing completion in the bodybuilding works of Park Royal Vehicles Ltd. and more are expected to he delivered from other coachbufiders in the near future. Since the new model was introduced at the Commercial Motor Show last September, two prototypes have been on demonstration tours all over the U.K. and firm orders for a total of 83 vehicles have been placed so far. The first of the Renown vehicles to he delivered will be part of an order for 19 with Park Royal bodies from South Wales Transport Co. Ltd. Contracts for the new buses have also been placed by City of Oxford Motor Services Ltd., Leigh Corporation Transport, North Western Road Car Co. Ltd., Fast Yorkshire Motor Services Ltd., Scottish C.W.S., Western Welsh Omnibus Co. Ltd., West Wales Motors Ltd., Felix Motors Ltd., of Hatfield, Nr. Doncaster and Scottish Omnibuses Ltd.

"One-man" O.I.E. Strike ADISPUTE concerning extended operation of "One-man " buses resulted in a strike this week by drivers and conductors employed by the state company of the Irish, Republic, C.J.E. The company had earlier twice postponed the extension of these operations while a settlement was sought, but had decided to introduce the extended " one-man " services on Monday.

Nottingham-Warsaw Bus Service Ends A N express bus service from Notting1-1. ham to Warsaw has been discontinued because so few Poles can afford the £28 return fare to their homeland. The single-decker bus made the 2,000mile round trip for the first time last August.

The journey took two days—from Nottingham to Harwich, through Holland and Germany to Warsaw. But now Barton Transport Ltd., Chilwell, Notts, says the demand for the tickets is not sufficient to make the. service Pay. Mr. Carl Barton, a director and traffic manager, said: "The Polish people showed great interest—Until it came to booking seats ".

Liverpool Bus Station Proposal ABUS station beneath the main block of a group of tower flats has been proposed in plans put forward for the rebuilding of Liverpool city centre. The station would consist of a single long island platform fed by roads for buses only. The central platform would accommodate 60 buses, with waiting space for a further 20. Waiting rooms, control rooms, kiosks and toilets would also be on the island. The shops and tower flats above would be reached by stairs and lifts.
