issued their decision on applications raising the important question of duplication on services from Edinburgh and Paisley to Manchester. Liverpool and Blackpool.
The Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd,. from Edinburgh, and the Western S.M.T. Co., Ltd„ from Pais. ley, operated services to ,these English towns, in co-operation with Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., Preston. One journey is run daily each way and the companies are able to duplicate to the extent of eight additional buses daily on each route, counting from both ends.
The railway companies asked that duplication should be curtailed by approximately SO per cent., whilst the Western S.M.T. concern sought an increase of about 100 per cent. in duplication on the Paisley-Blackpool service. The Commissioners have repelled the railway objections and have refused the applications for increased duplication by the Western S.M.T. concern.
