Bevan claims fuel saving from rigid body

A STREAMLINED RIGID body designed and built by Bevan Group claims to make fuel savings of 21%. The patent-pending Bevan21 body has a sloping front end with moulded cab collars to help improve aerodynamics. It is being tested by Argos Direct with further testing planned with Comet and Nightfreight.

Argos Direct general manager David Rose says: "Aerodynamic body styling is proven to improve fuel efficiency and with our home delivery fleet clocking up millions of miles a year, this vehicle has the potential to make a huge contribution to reducing our CO2 emissions."

Bevan Group managing director, Anthony Bevan, says: The new 21 has made an impact in the commercial environment and we're pleased with the positive response from customers. It has the potential to change the shape of rigid bodywork and help to reduce the commercial vehicle industry's impact on the environment. It's real progress."

CM will test the product later this year.
