One of the world's best known removal companies uses sat nay in a pilot group of trucks_ Pickfords, one of the world's best known removals companies, has specified VDO Dayton MS 4100 satellite navigation systems in 32 Daf 7,5 and 18-tonne gross trucks that have just joined its 900-strong fleet. The sat-nay is fitted to 18-tonne LF 55s and 7.5-tonne LF 45s and is an option on Daf-tel, the Internet-based vehicle management system operated in conjunction with Siemens VDO Trading.

Pickfords sales staff have had sat-nav for two years, but this is the first time the company has fitted it to trucks, says company engineer Tony Bailey. "The navigational advantages are obvious to an operation such as ours, where our drivers are vis'rting different addresses every day of the week. It also means that there will be no more thumbing through maps, so we perceive added bonuses in terms of enhanced safety and reduced stress for our drivers," he concludes.
