Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

rE introduction of the 24-hour clock system and the standardization of all timetables were announced on Monday in a joint statement by the British Electric Traction, Tilling and Scottish bus groups, whose companies operate 26,000 buses and coaches.

First stage will be the introduction of 24-hour timings this winter for all express coach services, whilst the system will be extended to all stage carriage bus services next summer. London Transport already makes extensive use of the 24-hour clock. A spokesman for the three groups stated that one of the system's many advantages was that travellers would no longer be able to confuse a.m. and p.m. timings.

There are some indications that other operators will not be slow to follow the example of the big company groups. Already at least one independent bus operator in East Anglia, H. S. Theobald and Son, of Long Melford, Suffolk, has applied to the Traffic Commissioners to change to 24-hour timings. No doubt others will follow his example.

Bus station and inquiry office clocks are now being altered and thousands of leaflets and posters—using the slogan "Britain's buses move with the times "—have been produced to explain the advantages of the 24-hour clock.

With reference to timetables, the three groups announced that with the change to the 24-hour clock, bus and coach timetables are to become uniform. Next year there will be a common page size for all timetables issued by companies within the groups, a modern, easy-to-read type face will be used, and all abbreviations and symbols will be standardized. Bus, coach and rail connections will be more clearly shown, and maps of greater clarity will indicate all public transport facilities.
