• Britain's hauliers must be prepared for liberalisation in the European transport market before harmonisation, said ETA director general Garry Turvey at an Institution of Civil Engineers conference Last week.
Turvey told delegates, 'The chances of achieving har monised taxation in the foreseeable future are virtually nil. So 'harmonisation before liberalisation' really means 'no to liberalisation'."
We must put our full weight behind the concept of a single community market and look upon the market as home trade, he said.
