Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Two of Britain's leading road transport trade unionists have been elected into positions within the International Transport Workers Federation. (IFT).

They are Bill Morris, the Transport and General Workers Union deputy general secretary and Jack Ashwell, National Secretary of the road haulage sector within the TGWU.

Morris has been appointed on to the [FT's Executive Board, which is to look after the ITF's affairs until 1990. The only other British member of the 26 man board is National Union of Railwaymen general secretary Jimmy Knapp.

The road transport section of the ITF has voted Ashwell as its Vice Chairman — as well as adopting a statement which rejects liberalisation or de-regulation of road transport and calls for co-ordination between the different transport modes.
