Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• One of Cummins' all-new 'C' Series engines will make a surprise appearance at next week's Motor Show, in a Dennis Javelin coach chassis.

The 'C' Series is a six-cylinder in-line. 8.27-litre engine built in naturally-aspirated, turbocharged and turbocharged and charge-cooled versions with maximum power ratings in the 112 to 186kW (150 to 250hp) class.

The Dennis engine is a charge-cooled 6CTA 8.3-litre unit which develops 186kW at 2,500rpm and maximum torque of 826Nm (609 lbft) at 1,50Orpm.

Like the recently introduced but smaller 'B' Series engines, the 'C' Series was developed jointly by Cummins and Case and production of it began at the Cummins Case CDC Rocky Mount plant in North Carolina, USA, earlier this year.

Paccar is one of the first truck manufacturers to use the 'C' Series, fitting it in its Brazilian-built medium weight vehicles with VW cabs (CM, October 4). Cummins is already talking to prospective European customers about the new engine.
