FERRYMASTERS is to close its facilities at Desborough and Southampton and has announced redundancies at these and other depots/offices in the UK and overseas.
The number of redundancies is not yet known and discussions are under way with a view to re-deploying employees.
About 55 of the 65 workforce at Desborough are expected to be made redundant while it is not clear how many jobs will go at Southampton, which employs 25 workers, and Newbury, which employs 12.
Ferrymasters blame the closures on the sharp downturn in business during 1980, and the pressure on price levels to its customers owing to over-capacity in the international haulage industry.
