Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

and addresses of manufacturers of notice plates for fixing in vehicle cabs and reading "No Unauthorized Passenger, etc. . . ." What are the legal implications of such warning notices?

AWe can suggest two companies who

make such notices: ABC Badge and Label Co. Ltd., 145-149 Stanwell Road. Ashford, Middx., and Clarke and Co. Ltd., Coombe Road, Salisbury, Wilts.

The legal implication of ca rrying such a notice in the driver's cab in view of any person who might enter the cab is merely to emphasize to the said person that he is trespassing. Even if there was no notice we feel that the fact that it was express company policy not to give lifts without management permission would class the person as a trespasser. The notice ca n only be taken as a precise warning, but nevertheless its presence would be worth mentioning in any claim on the carrier for damages.

The general rule is that the only duty which a carrier owes to a trespasser is not to injure him deliberately, and not to expose him to unnecessary risk, i.e. completely disregard his presence. However, one should note that certain classes of trespassers, i.e. children, have sometimes been classed as "reckonable" trespassers who possibly should receive a higher standard of ca re.
