Peter Redfern has been appointed director, sales and service and Bernard Jessop works director of Scammell Lorries Ltd. The appointments are consequent upon the recent retirement of works director J. Thorpe, and the forthcoming retirement in October of B. L. Braithwaite from the position of sales director. Mr. Redfern. who had been Scammell general sales manager since 1967, has previously held a number of executive sales posts with British Leyland Group Companies, Mr. Jessop was appointed manufacturing manager of Scammell Lorries in January.

R. J. H. C. Hildreth, 35, at present on the staff of the National Economic Development Office, later this year takes up a five-year appointment as fulltime member of the London Transport Board.

R. E. Herridge, secretary of the North Western Road Car Co.. on behalf of senior executives prese:nted William Leese, former general manager, with a silver tray. Mr. Leese, who started with North Western in 1927, is now general manager of Ribble Motors.

Brian Butterfield has been appointed sales director of H.W.P. Engineering Co. Ltd., Hexthorpe. Mr. Butterfield was, for ten years, north-eastern area representative of the British Trailer Co. Ltd.

George Brook and F. W. Young have been appointed to the board of Potteries Motor Traction Co. Ltd. in place of R. A. Taylor and G. Dow, respectively, who have resigned.

B. Goodfellow has been elected an honorary member of the PVOA in recognition of his services for over 10 years as chairman of its licensed Continental tour section. As general manager of Sheffield United Tours Ltd.—he retired due to ill health in 1967—Mr. Goodfellow was a pioneer of Continental coach operation. As a technical expert, he frequently accompanied MoT officials to international meetings.

F. Harrison, divisional manager, central division, Southern Region of British Railways, has been appointed a director of Southdown Motor Services Ltd. in place of G. L Nicholson, who has resigned.
