Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The sliding tilt is a development in modern lorry bodies which should become popular byreason of the numerous advantages which it offcrs in connection with loading and unloading operations. With the average covered lorry, should there be any need for moving goods placed in the middle of the body, it is usually necessary to unload the contents of the vehicle from the rear until the desired articles can be reached. In the case of a vehicle incorporating • a sliding tilt, however, should the same difficulty arise, it is generally only necessary to run the cover forward until the goods to be removed are exposed. The latter can then be conveniently unloaded without disturbing the other articles in the body.

Wehave previously referred in our columns to the Sparshatt sliding tilt, and it is of interest to learn that Messrs. A. Fleming and Co., 39, Victoria Street, London, S.W.1, is now the London agent for the apparatus. This concern is in a position to supply any coachbnilder with a complete set of drawings and instructions which are necessary for the building of the Spar; shatt tilts suitable for 1-ton to 4-ton vehicles at • a reasonable licence fee for each.

One of the notable features of the sliding tilt is that it is constructed to run on ball bearings, which factor makes it extremely easy in action. When in the closed or rearward position, the tilt is held at its base by means of four steel arms. •A slot in each of these arms engages a strong bolt, to which it is held by a handle "which runs on the thread. The head of this handle is countersunk so that the • tilt _ is securely keld, in position and prevented from _rattling. B23
