Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

In a recent issue we referred to the use of a well-known make of passengercarrying chassis for goods transport, and it would appear that this is not the first occasion on which such a procedure has been adopted, for we learn that the chassis forming the basis of the large-capacity removals van supplied to A. W. Carnage, Ltd. (illustrated in our issue dated .August Oth last), is a product which as primarily designed by Tilling-Stevens Motors, Ltd.; for passenger work. 7

As was the case in the other instanee to which we referred, this chassia Was utilized in order to secure a low loadjag level, which is an essential requirement in removals work. The frame heig,ht of the chassis is only 2 ft. Tb,e chassis is known as the Express lightweight type B.10l3 model, and its main features comprise a foun-cylindered engine having a. R.A.C. rating of 29 lip., a single-plate clutch, a four-speed,aedreverse gearbox, and a worm-driven rear axle. We learn that TillingStevens Motors, Ltd., has supplied a second vehicle of this type to Messrs. Carnage.

Egyptian Imports.

The British Commercial Secretary at Cairo reports that the total number of motor vehicles, exclusive of tractors, imported into Egypt during 1926 amounted to 4,762, valued at 1E747,024, as compared with 5,491, valued at £E764,423 in 1925. The United States was the chief contributor to this mallet, with 2,421 vehicles, which consisted for the most part of Ford products.

Abercarn Defers a Proposal.

For some time past the Abercarn (Mon.) Urban District Council has had under consideration the organization of its own scavenging staff and the buying of vehicles to enable direct scavenging to be undertaken in place of the present system of contracting with haulage contractors.The council has now decided to defer the question for the time being, in view of the financial position of the • district, successful application for sanction to borrow the sum required for plant being regarded as improbable.

For Transport or Haulage.

In our issue dated August 30th last we intimated that the Republic Motor Truck Co., Inc., Of Alma, Michigan, had purchased the entire capital stock of the Linn Manufacturing Corporation, of Morris, New York. We mentioned at that time a special type of vehicle which was being placed on the market, and we are now able to publish an illustration of it on this page.

.. It will be seen that it is a half-track vehicle, which is not only intended for transport purposes, but to undertake heavy haulage. That this work is welt within its capacity is indicated by the fact that the chassis is equipped with a 100 h.p. six,:cylindered engine. We understand that the vehicle is meeting with :considerable success for logging

operations, road building, gen6ral con structional 'work, ete. The vehicle which we illustrate is equipped with a tipping body with a eaPacity of 4 Cu. yds.

Seiberling Tyres.

AS a result of the rapid increase in the demand for Seiberliug tyres, the Seiberling Tyre Co. (Great Britain), Ltd:, has found it necessary to remove to larger premises, and the company is now installed at. 146-148, Tennant Street, Birmingham. It is interesting to learn that, following upon the opening by the company of a factory at Toronto, Canada, the majority of the tyres sold, through its organization in this country will be of Canadian manufacture.

Agent for Pallas Accessories.

The Adam Engineering Co. (Eug: land), Ltd., 60, Strand, Landon, W.C2, informs us that it has been appointed sole agent for -Great Britain -and Ireland for Pallas carburetters, petrol filters, radiator thermometers and accessories, which are employed as standard equipment on a number of well-known makes of engine.
