Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Fiat Motors, Ltd. 43, Albemarle Street, London, W.

Stand No. 48. (See page 285.)

F.W:D.

Four-wheel Drive Lorry Co., Ltd., 44-46, Kingsway, London, W.C.2.

Stand No. 92

THERE will be two exhibits on this stand, one being a polished chae sis arranged to show the details o F.W.D. construction and to bring out mime of the outstanding features of this well-known model, which, we learn, has been in production for more than. 10 years. A certain number of improvements have been incorporated in the vehicle, and one of the points which is worthy of attention is the manner in which these improvements have been made interchangeable with earlier models. A great advantage of this interchangeability is the avoidance of duplicate spare parts for different models. These improvements, as the opportunity occurs, can all be introduced an the earlier models, for which also the new spare parts are equally available.

The second exhibit consists Of a 3 ton chassis equipped with a three-way hydraulic tipping gear, and drawing a 5 ton F.W.D. trailer, which is also equipped with a similar type tipping gear. That on the trailer is so arranged that it can be operated from the lorry, whilst the body can be tipped towards the end or to the right or left side. The body on the lorry, by the way, can be operated in the same manner. This control of the tipping gear from the lorry is quite original, and will be bound to attract a great deal of interest. The sides and ends of the lorry and trailer bodies are equipped with hinged tailboards, so that both vehicles can be used for other purposes besides tipping. A point to notice is that the floor of the body is not higher from the ground than that of the ordinary platform body, and is arranged only sufficiently high to give clearance for the wheels.

It is the intention of the company to have ready for demonstration within easy reach of Olympia an F.W.D. chassis, which is equipped with the Smith gas producer using anthracite coal.
