Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

.Clayton Wagons, Ltd., Titanic Works, Lincoln.

• Stand No. 20.

THE Clayton exhibit, will consist of two steam wagons of different types and the new Clayton electric wagon. One of the steam wagons is of the overtype design, having independently operated steam tipping gear for the body. This type is well known, the engine being of the compound type with piston valves to .both cylinders, giving high efficiency. The power is transmitted from the engine thrciughMachinecut gears to a countershaft carrying the chain pinion, the power thence being transmitted to the rear axle by a roller driving chain, two speeds being provided

for. The boiler feed pump on this vehicle is operated by gearing from the engine countershaft, and may be used when the vehicle is standing. It will be seen from the exhibit that excellent pro tection is provided for the driver, the greatest•consideration having been paid to his comfort.

The other Clayton steam exhibit is a 6 ton undertype, which has undergone certain modifications since the previous descriptions of it were published. The engine of this machine is of the doublecylinder h.p.--type with piston valves below the cylinders, operated from a patented eccentric gear, which gives varying cut-off of steam to the engine cylinder and reverse by a simple movement of the lever in the driver's cab.

The Clayton 2 ton electric wagon is an entirely new. production, and will be shown fitted with motor-operated tipping gear for the body. The batteries are the well-known Ironclad Exide. The electric motor and controller have been made by the American works of the British Thomson-Houston Co. The vehicle has a single motor drive, with countershaft bearings embodied in the motor frame, and two chains driving to the rear axle, the differential being on the countershaft. The tipping gear used is of the run-back order, and is substantial and neat in construction.
