nNE of the finest exhibite which will be seen at the Show will undoubtedly be that on this stand. Not only will a , stripped chassis, excellently finished in every way, be on view, but an engine unit, an electrically driven gearbox unit, mid a selection of parts will be shown to enable the special mechanical features thoroughly to be inspected. This is in addition to the 29seater saloon bus and the 4 ton lorry, which form the complete vehicles on the stand. Outside the .Show .visitors will have an opportunity of inspecting a fine 28-seater motor coach, and a tipping lorry with a steel body, hydraulic tipping gear, and an automatMally released tailboard. The Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co. are in, the somewhat unique position of being themselves large users of the products they manufacture, .and the design of their vehicles bears the imprint of that practical experience. e particularly clean and robust design of the chassis is noticeable, and it is remarkable also for the inclusion of a. large number of ingenious features of construction. Amongst these must be mentioned the special gateless type of central change-speed gear, the excellent feet brake adjustment, the large dia,. meter rear brake. shoes (this year the drums have been increased to 24 ins. diameter), the cast-aluminium lamps, both head and tail, and the very neat switch arrangement by which they are
controlled. The petrol tank is now carried at the rear of the chassis, the feed being. by means of an Autovac tank mounted on the dash. The wellarranged dynamo and magneto mounting and drive and the very large diameter water pipes on the engine, the neat wiring and the simplicity of the . clutch design, are other features well worth examination.
