A.CAREFUL preliminary study of the exhibita prepared for staging at. Olympia, rendered possible through the courtesy of the manufacturers, who have allowed us to witness the work of construction and the final etages of their preparation for public display, has convinced us that there is no retrograde movement in design, quality of material, or perfection of ;workmanship in British commercial vehicles. The trend of design in tewards lightness, but at no sacrifice of strength or reliability, and it is ' encouraging to find that the motor mechanician is as keen as ever he was upon doing his job well.

There is no waning in popularity in any one class of vehicle, and no advance in one class at the expense of another. Thus, there are new steam vehicles and new electrics. The petrol-electric vehicle is still strongly fostered and there are prospects of further developments of the type. The petrel vehicle holds its own, however, as strongly an ever, and in the face of all these circumstances . it is apparent that the niovementis upward, ever upward. The remarkable versatility of the power-driven commercial vehicle will be the feature: thatwill most impress visitors to the Show which opens on Friday next and remains open until Saturday, October 22nd.
